Smudging with sage is a powerful cleansing technique from the Native North American Tradition. Smudging calls on the spirits of sacred plants to drive away negative energies and restore balance. It is the art of cleansing yourself and your environment using simple ritual and ceremony. For thousands of years smudging has been a part of Native American tradition but now its power of cleansing is available to everyone.

How can smudging be so powerful?

The answer lies in the subatomic world of subtle or spiritual energy. Homes and bodies are not just made of purely physical matter; they also vibrate with quiet, invisible energy.

Cleansing a space or our bodies with techniques such as smudging clears away the emotional and psychic ‘energy debris’ that tends to collect or hang onto us. It is a like spiritual spring cleaning.

The effects of smudging can be surprisingly swift and dramatic. The rituals  can help you banish stress, attract love, sooth you, or give you energy.

They can bring your family closer together and let you adjust to the healing seasonal rhythms of the year. Above all they can turn any space, however humble, into a soothing sanctuary – a place of renewal and happiness.

The History Of Smudging

Smudging may seem a very modern practice. We read about city dwellers using it to sell their apartments or improve their business luck. But smudging has been used for thousands of years. When you light a smudge stick you are connecting with a spiritual tradition that originates from the depths of time.

A Tradition From The Mists Of Time

It is impossible to say for certain when smudging began. Perhaps early civilizations came to realize, through sheer trial and error, that the smoke generated by setting alight particular herbs had beneficial effects for humanity. Certainly many cultures have an old tradition of driving animals through smoke to kill off pests and diseases.

Nowadays modern science has proven that certain herbs do indeed have cleansing powers, acting as strong pesticides.

Aside from this beneficial and practical aspect of burning herbs, humans have become aware that smoke ascends to the heavens – to the world of spirits – almost as if it were acting as a spiritual messenger.

The idea of purification through smoke is certainly not the sole preserve of the Native North Americans. Most rituals have some element of cleansing, and incense or herbal smoke mixtures that are burned. Around the world – from China, India, and Southeast Asia, to Europe and the Western world- many countries have used some form of smoke or smudging for  ritual and clearing.

The Native American Way

Originally, mixtures of sacred herbs and resins were burned in a special bowl. Smoke was then wafted around the person or place needing purification and cleansing. However, smudge sticks (bundles of dried herbs tied together with colored thread or a strip of hide) offer an easier way of smudging that is just as effective.

The herbs most often used in smudge sticks are sage and sweet grass. Sage drives out negative thoughts, energies, spirits, and all influences. Sweet grass is used to attract positive energy after all the negative energies have been banished by sage.

Native Americans see smudging as a way of shifting between various levels of reality, connecting us here in the material, physical world to the subtle realm of spirits.

How to Smudge

1. An abalone shell is the accustomed Native American vessel to use for holding the sage. However, any small, flat, heat-proof container will do.
2. Leave the sage as is, tied with the string in the bundle. Light the sage and let it flame for a minute or so. Extinguish the flame so the sage is smoldering and smoking.
3. Take the smudge container and using circular clockwise movements, encircle yourself with the smoke. The Native American custom is to use a very large feather from a poultry bird, such as a turkey. Using the feather, fan the smoke all around the room going around windows and doorways. I always say a prayer as I do this asking for all negativity be released, opening up for all that is good and holy. If possible, open some windows and doors to allow the smoke to leave.
4. You can do this for the whole room and even the whole house. Start at the most northerly room and working again, clockwise, through your home, let the smoke from the sage permeate throughout. Try and finish off the smudging process by ending up at an open door. You should have come full circle around your home.

A note of interest. Whenever I have done this, it has never set off any of my smoke alarms, which I have found very strange indeed. Now it MAY set off yours, so be prepared to disconnect it during your smudging and be SURE to re-engage it upon completion of your smudging.

I say a little prayer over and over as I do my smudging, asking the ‘powers that be’ (Spirit of the sage) to remove all negativity and unwanted energies.

IT WORKS!!!!

When first doing this on a regular basis, you may find yourself feeling agitated or uneasy and not sure why. It is because you are ‘clearing’ with the help of the smudging. This would indicate that there is a lot of ‘negative’ energies in your environment. I do not have a set amount of times to smudge. You will find your own feel for how often for yourself.

Sage is the most potent herb for smudging but you can also use cedar and sweet grass.

I just learned of the death of Denys Kelsey, the Patriarch of Past Life Therapy. In 1974 I had the great fortune to have a past life therapy session with Denys Kelsey, at a time when his wife, Joan Grant, was still alive. Having done many hundreds of PLT sessions, having had a few dozen such sessions for myself, and having had an equal number of spontaneous recalls, I am convinced, as was Denys Kelsey, that PLT is better than 18 months or years of other forms of psychotherapy! Today Morris Netherton is the leading Past Life Therapist, and now the Patriarch and we are most fortunate to have him teaching two courses at Holos University Graduate Seminary..

Denys Kelsey qualified as a doctor but specialized in psychiatry for close on 50 years after discovering a gift for hypnosis. He will always be remembered for introducing to modern psychiatry the fact, as he believed it to be, that not only have we all had many lives before our current one but that the origin of some psychiatric problems may lie in a patient’s former lifetime and still be accessible to therapy. His unique approach resulted in the rapid resolution of a considerable number of psychiatric problems that had not responded to therapy within the usual framework of psychiatry. Surprisingly, he found his belief in reincarnation focused attention on the ‘Here and Now’. In the first part of the book Denys draws heavily on his clinical experience to make a convincing case for believing in reincarnation. And, since one cannot believe in reincarnation without believing in the reality of a non-physical component that can reincarnate, he offers some thoughts concerning this and the part it plays in consciousness.

The second part of the book is largely concerned with the contribution that reincarnation makes to our understanding of character. He explains why he is convinced that although character traits reincarnate and are often the crucial factor in a psychiatric problem, nevertheless we have the power to change them if we choose to do so. This has proved of immense value in therapy. Thoughts and insights are shared that explain in a novel way how certain common psychiatric problems develop in daily life, how they can be dealt with and how they can be forestalled. These are expressed in simple non-technical terms. And, as throughout the book, points are illustrated by reference to actual cases. The two parts of the book are closely linked and Part II in particular distinguishes it from other books that have been published in recent years about reincarnation and ‘past-life therapy’. The two parts complement one another to form a unity, which Denys thought of as a legacy to all people, lay and professional. 1. I “see” a myriad of changes and new frontiers in health, medicine and alternative healthcare for our future experiences. They will have dramatic impacts to all areas or our lives – health, employment, economic, financial, an spiritual. I sense in the next 5 – 10 years the fields of alternative health, well-being and medicine will change drastically in all areas – prescriptive medicines, procedures, longevity and general overall well-being. Amazing breakthroughs in creating and maintaining health, disease control, chronic health challenges and degenerative physical and mental conditions will emerge as technology meets the natural organic approach to nurturing which will be supporting life – as well as enhancing life to its fullest potential!

I “see” that medical care will become more personalized with a custom tailored approach to assist in the treatment, healing and well being of patients. There will be even more focus on longevity with standard western medical doctors because of the interest and demand. For a great majority of diseases and symptoms, doctors will begin to be able to approach each patient with individualized protocol information. There will be blood tests, mitochondrial cellular biopsies, DNA tests as well as medical intuitive practitioners for patients before the disease is diagnosed. This will allow a more precise detailed and personal individualized diagnosis. Doctors’ offices will be equipped with highly technological computerized and digital equipment, that will quickly and efficiently reveal what the body needs, body excesses and body imbalances and where these originate. This will automatically be put through a computerized data bank which will assimilate all the information and come up with a detailed method of treatment. The treatments will also include alternative methods of treatment such as acupuncture, massage, energy medicine and other therapies. Prescriptions will include a variety of medicines formulated especially for the patient according to age, sex, weight and severity of the problem. These will include herbal formulations, supplements as well as prescriptions. There will be an automatic allergy and tolerance application so as to avoid any side effects or adverse reactions.

The doctors’ offices will change dramatically in the future because of the new methods of treatments. Since doctors are in such high demand and have such heavy patient loads, the general office visits will be done by nurses, practioners, energy medicine doctors, medical intuitives and other highly trained medical staff to assist in the evaluation of patients. This will create a new level of nursing and other positions in the medical field that will incorporate medicine and technology. Many will become as qualified as doctors in certain specific areas only. These levels of professionals will take the place of much of what doctors have routinely been doing in offices. However, this will be extremely specialized. These new nurse specialties will be much like a doctor’s assistant requiring more education and specialized training. This will also involve highly technical computerized skills. This will become one of the most needed and highly paid professions of the future. Therefore, doctors will become even more specialized with their skills. They will practice more in hospitals and clinics. Doctors office’s will become more like centers offering 24/7 care which will include a variety of modalities including medical intuitives, energy therapies and alternative treatments. Emergency rooms of hospitals will become highly computerized centers that will be able to offer the finest of surgical and life saving abilities. Organs will be kept on site for immediate use. ER will be a hub of the most advanced medical and computerized facilities offering fine skills of many kinds of medical and alternative treatments. 

There will be financial incentives, for those who donate their organs.

Insurance companies of the future will be centers of resources.

 Pharmaceutical companies will suffer greatly due to lawsuits. Some of these will be due to improper suggestions to prescribe drugs, or push certain drugs for gain and profit. Kickbacks and favoring doctors with gifts or other financial incentives will be a news breaking uproar. This will be the beginning of the clean-out of the powerful pharmaceuticals companies. Major changes will occur. 

Pharmaceutical companies will then become more involved in the alternative supplement and herbal market. This will cause shifts and changes in costs and availability. This is due to the demand and need for better quality and more effective treatments. However, I do see a time when certain supplements will be covered by insurance.

The dispensing of drugs will no longer be mainly done by pharmacists. This will become an automated system which will be connected with the healing centers. The computerized methods will also dispense what medications or supplements a patient needs at the time of diagnosis. This will be a much more efficient method of health care. I see this as a necessity due to population growth and demand. This shift will necessitate new training and education which will, in turn, create many new types of jobs and careers.

Major health concerns such as cancer will diminish considerably due to breakthroughs in diagnosis and treatments which will stem from ancient methods of healing. The treatment of diabetes will shift to one of immediate detox, cleanse and re-application of blood supply for the patient. Treatment of the liver will be paramount.

Emotional and mental challenges will be a standard evaluation for children which will enable early detection and treatment. These treatments will include a form of self-directed computer assistance. Birth defects will be detected and treated in embryo. Immunizations will become completely different from what we know now. There will come a time when immunizations will be non-existent. Other forms of protecting the body will be safer and non-toxic.

 Gerontology – old age – will require the most focus and assistance. Therefore, there will be large complexes for housing, care, exercise, research and work. Since people will be living better and longer lives, this older generation will be working and contributing to the care of children as well as each other. Great creativity, wisdom, and insight from these individuals will produce classic literature, paintings, art, music and movies as the wellspring of experience, knowledge and perception emerge from this unique generation as they have literally “seen it all”!

2. This next area of trends and predictions I intuitively “see”, sense and feel for our future are related to our relationships. The changes and discoveries in our relationships – what we leave behind and what we will grasp onto – come from our past history as Americans. Our past lives have shown how we are always seeking new ways to be, new ways to love and new ways to come together. We, as Americans, seem to crave relationships in unique ways, different from our forefathers & foremothers. Our pioneering spirit will continue to create and support new, better, and healthier relationships. We will demand and establish our own individual needs and parameters. Reasons and methods that form our future relationships will revolve around our emotional fulfillments and connection. Instead of the old fashioned way of chemistry attraction, looks and enjoyment that brings people together, it will be of utmost interest for the youth to establish compatibility, specific individual reasons and a more logical approach to uniting together. I see professions and services flourishing that will assist in the procurement of more compatible and advantageous selection. This type of mate selection will be more encompassing with access to the worldwide populations than the historic selection of proximity, sexual chemistry, and/or financial advantages. This will prove to be a very harmonious mate selection uniting the people of the planet. New traditions and mores will be created along with treasuring the old indigenous beliefs.

A truly new world of peace, joy and harmony.

 Religions and spiritual beliefs will be the basis and mainstay of these unions – like attracts like. The Law of Attraction at work.

However, there will be a segment of the younger generation that will unite together in relationships for specific procreation attributes. These will be established as arrangements to further the gene pool of outstanding, rare talents, skills, abilities and intelligence. Even though this is an elective procreation, there will be incentives in order to establish a super race. Again this will be a global community. This will be an accepted form of marriage with due respect and understanding as other forms of marriage. (Remember, these are not my opinions or recommendations).

 The uniting of same sex couples will be a non issue – this will become a matter of course. Unions of many couples will be accepted and acknowledged both in the religious realm as well as the political realm. Just as the difficulties of the civil rights movement precipitated changes and acceptance – same sex marriages will become accepted and understood. As we usher in our bi-racial President, Barack Obama, Americans will show the world how we are willing to adjust and change for the good of humanity. Americans will once again be the leaders for change and compassion.

 Political persuasions will become a global influence instead of territorial guardianship.

The changes in relationships that I “see” and the advancement in emotional and physical health care that I “see” have dramatic positive effects on our political and governing systems, our social services, our educational opportunities, our ways of living and working. All of these changes will have many profound beneficial impacts on our financial systems, our base of employment opportunities, new and attainable jobs, our level of income and our lifestyle.

I “see” the financial upswing begin to occur in pockets and areas of the country. I sense and feel new jobs opening up. Even though these jobs will be slight beginnings, they will lead to more higher level and higher paying positions. Not all over the country but in significant areas. I sense and feel our new administration will operate with a careful and watchful eye as to the bailouts and who gets what. I do not “see” all of these being successful. I do see the automotive industry changing and becoming more of a central manufacturing with widespread plants all over the country thus providing many new jobs. I do not see an immediate shift in the stock market – more like ups and downs for the majority of 2009. I do see a strong rally and a sturdy base begin to emerge for the stock market early 2010. The housing market in Florida will see dips and surges well into the balance of ’09. Florida Real Estate will rally in a better way in Jan 2010 – slowly yet with a more steady base. Florida real estate will begin to shift towards providing services since this state will begin to shift more and more towards being the basis for establishing centers for the older generations. The housing market will change to reflect this as well as provide unique housing to support these centers.

3. All of these areas I just discussed will influence our spiritual consciousness. We will become more aware, more “plugged in” to our feelings and emotions and what is in the best interest of the whole or group as well as personally. This, in turn, will impact our spiritual beliefs and practices. Religion will begin to slightly adjust to spirituality. Changes in health care and changes in relationships directly affect our spiritual consciousness. Because it is directly affecting humanity and how we “are”- our being-ness in the world – we create our spiritual consciousness.

This is not to say that there will not be specific groups arguing and fighting for their personal beliefs and customs to be kept intact and respected. Fighting will continue in areas as the territories and lines of personal ego, greed and power continue to have a strong hold on people and nations. This will be another unique time in the history of the United States as we separate from interfering in the purpose of uniting. I do see these changes trickling into our fabric of democracy and humanity in 2009.

 Finally, we will be called upon to become, once again, examples and leaders of love, compassion, peace and unity. The world will be watching our moves, our changes and our results. It is time for us to measure up to what God has given us and what God expects of us.

To develop it is becoming more and more of a sought after skill.

 This skill of intuition is, indeed, one that can be enhanced and developed by all of us. As with any skill, some of us are born with abilities towards a particular skill. Others choose to develop a skill with discipline, dedication and determination. Then there are others less skilled in one area but very skilled in another. This can be likened to body building. Some people are born very athletic and able to develop their physical muscles easily and quickly. Others choose to develop their muscular bodies. The Intuitive muscle, or awareness, works and is enhanced much the same way. We are born with intuition! Some of us have extraordinary skills at it, and others choose to develop their full potential.

Many people enter a course of study not realizing their own potential. They are drawn into intuitive development classes because they are intrigued with the possibilities, have experienced some type of intuition or are searching for self-confidence and guidance. Through the many years I have been teaching intuitive development, I am always amazed and delighted when students begin to experience their own internal intuition emerge. Enabling students to actually experience a variety of intuitive abilities in classes with instruction, coaching and encouragement aids development. Intuitive awareness is there. It just needs a pathway to awareness. Being validated and confirmed by others spurs us on to continue. We learn to believe in our own self.

Edgar Cayce is one of the most famed intuitives. He left us a legacy of insights, guidance and wisdom about our spiritual awareness, karmic patterns, heath connections, and intuition. He encouraged everyone to believe in and develop their connection to their own source of intuition.

Dr. Norman Shealy, esteemed neurosurgeon, author, founder and president of The American Holistic Medical Association and director/founder of HOLOS University Graduate Seminary program, credits intuition as a new field worthy of extensive study in a university environment. Caroline Myss, author of “Anatomy Of The Spirit” and other works about intuition, health and spiritual meaning has also written and taught extensively about our intuitive awareness. Both have created a focused study of intuition and spiritual awareness worthy of degree granting and career direction. What was once called women’s intuition now has been upgraded and promoted to a high level of acceptability, credibility and availability to us all.

This perceived hidden and unrecognizable intuitive awareness has been seeping into our daily lives more and more.

We are searching for more meaning in our lives. More guidance to create our lives into what we dream about. We want to attract all that is great and grand and glorious for us. We all want a peaceful happy abundant purpose-filled life. We want to be free of our hidden fears, insecurities, and struggles. Learning how to release those blocks through inner awareness allows us to be clear and open to our intuition.

 We are searching for new meaning and enhanced freedom in our lives.

Developing our intuition is the pathway to self and to our Higher Self.

 Women’s intuition, which was once considered weird and unexplainable, now has a new perspective. We are beginning to hear of courses, classes, workshops and personal development seminars aimed at developing the intuitive nature. Transpersonal psychology, Intuitive Counseling, spiritual psychology, intuitive energy healing and medical intuition are a few of the courses now being offered in a variety of alternative and holistic colleges and universities. Classes and workshops are offering us a plethora of methods and training to develop our internal source of awareness a.k.a. intuition!

Thus, intuition is emerging out of obscurity to a fully recognizable source of wisdom and guidance for us all.

Our intuitive muscle skills can be developed, accessed and finely tuned to enhance our lives, our decisions and our happiness and our purpose. Intuition is a locked-up source just waiting for us to open up, click on and wake up. This light-bulb awareness can begin to allow our life to work for us easily, quickly and joyfully, (my favorite mantra)!

Becoming aware of our intuitive nature is how we plug into our own internal assistant. Transformation of self through our own intuition can be fun, exciting and rewarding. Pathways open up for you. Practical daily life can become one of ease and serendipity. Opening up our own internal source, our intuition, shows us how to become aware of the opportunities surrounding us. Living well can be attained. Each one of us has intuitive potential. It is just a matter of learning how to listen to, pay attention to and become aware of how our intuition comes to us. 

Awareness is the key to what the Universe has in store for us.

The Reiki Attunement is essentially the same regardless of the level. By its nature, the attunement enables the person to channel reiki, regardless of being Reiki I, II or Master. The attunement is first given to all of the Reiki I participants. This enables them to do reiki. In Reiki II the students learn the symbols – and by knowing the symbols through the intention of distance and or increasing the energy of reiki, the Reiki II will be able to performed. The symbols in and of themselves are mystical and they seem very magical. Because, combined with the ability to do reiki, the symbols give intention and increase the energy of the treatment.

Intuition is simply the state of knowing something without being aware that you know it, and Albert Einstein taught that intuition is the ONLY really valuable thing in the universe! It is a non-thought that bypasses the process of thinking, an inner knowing that comes from the superconscious mind, unclouded by the subconscious belief system.

And yes, we all have an intuitive nature. It is our “first instinct”, our “gut reaction”, our “feelings” and our “knowingness.” Many of us experience this intuitive part of ourselves in our body as a sensing or feeling. We feel something, either a good feeling or a not-so-good feeling. Others describe their intuitive nature as “just a knowing”.

Einstein used his intuitive sense to solve complicated theories. Thomas Edison was known to access his intuitive subconscious with short naps which gave him creative inspirations for his inventions, his intuitive seeing.

We can all access our intuitive nature. It can help us and guide us to not only discover what we really want, but also to facilitate the manifestation of that desire. This internal guidance system within us works to attract that which we desire and what we focus on.
This is also known as The Law of Attraction, and it is a demonstration of how we create things, events and people in our lives. Our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions literally produce energies which in turn attract “like energies”, so it should not come as any surprise that we can begin to attract a new career or job by first feeling the desire for another career.

Our intuition will be our guidepost of feeling and sensing, so it is crucial to keep this “desire” a positive one of attracting what we DO want instead of a negative one of what weDO NOT want (for instance, our current job).

We simply start by focusing on all the qualities and aspects of what we do want by writing it all down, getting clear and specific. Then our desire will alert our intuition and put us in touch with our internal feelings, which will create that energetic attraction.

We continue by allowing our senses and intuition to surface as we feel, sense and imagine each day, filled with the expectation that that which we desire and deserve is already on its way to us. Our intuition will assist in banishing our doubts of “deservability” with a constant monitoring of our feelings, thoughts, words and actions towards that which we deserve, expect and desire.

As we manage our minds, we will find that our intuition takes over and provides confidence that we are ready, able and willing to allow and attract the next career move that is right for us.

Here are five easy steps towards using intuition to attract a new job or career:

1. INTEREST – We think of things that give us joy, pleasure, fulfillment and satisfaction. This is “Intuitive Feeling”.
2. ATTENTION — As we direct our attention to our interests, this magnetizes our power of attraction which draws it to us. We use our intention to focus towards that which is our attention. This is “Intuitive Sensing”.
3. IMAGINATION — We imagine it in detail. Seeing, sensing, feeling, and believing creates the energy of attraction. This is “Intuitive Seeing”.
4. ACTION — This is the energy that moves us forward to meet what we are attracting. It is important to be aware of signs, symbols, clues, hints and changes all around us. This is “Intuitive Energy”.
5. EXPECTATION — This is a powerful force, an active form of intention with intensity. This is “Intuitive Knowing”.

In the end we must remember this: To never expect a thing we do not WANT, and never desire a thing we do not EXPECT. Intuition is the guidance system within us that assists in attracting all that which is in our highest and best good.

Our career is one of the most important decisions we make, yet many people complain about their jobs, not knowing what other choices they may have, or how to change the direction of their career path. The most empowering and practical tool we have within us is the ability to receive intuitive guidance. And the process involves linking it with our rational and emotional processes, then taking action based on our decision to follow that guidance.

Awareness of our intuition is the most exciting frontier we are experiencing in today’s changing world. Dr. Jonas Salk, inventor of the polio vaccine in the 1950s, in his groundbreaking discovery, used his intuitive nature to discover and create one of the most important discoveries in modern medicine. His career skyrocketed and we still benefit from his creative intuition to this day.

Today we are becoming more aware of our own intuitive energies and abilities as well as the intuition of others. Just as Dr. Salk did, we can also tap into our creative intuitive nature to further our own careers. We are finally beginning to recognize and acknowledge that our intuition can be a practical daily tool for insights and wisdom.

When we trust our intuition implicitly, we are able to by-pass otherwise normal limitations, cut through time and space, and gain unexpected insights and guidance. The intuitive process provides solutions that may not fit our expectations; however, with intuition, our present here-and-now bubble of experience expands into many possibilities, opportunities and a broad array of choices that we were previously unaware of.

Intuitive knowing is direct knowing without time consuming linear reasoning. Once we shift our perspective into the intuitive realm, a wide variety of exciting options open up to our awareness. The next step, after believing that we do have an intuitive nature, is learning how to access our own personal intuitive process. By learning how to get our intuition to work for us, we can get the job we want instead of the job we have! Imagine choosing from an almost infinite number of possibilities instead of being pigeonholed into the same old thing.

With intuition and logic working hand in hand, we can clearly see what is needed and do exactly what is required of us, thus rising to the occasion with inspiration and trust. Once we shift our perspective, we can use our intuition to move forward easily, quickly and joyfully — confident that our next career step will be the right one.

Intuition is about attaining crystal-clear perception and persisting in the search for a more elegant, more efficient, and more uplifting way of knowing. It is not the opposite of logic — it is a cyclical process, a comprehensive way of knowing that life includes both.

Here are 7 steps to combining logic and intuition for career guidance:

1. ISSUE: Intuitive clarity. Define and formulate your career question, such as “What other possibilities are available for me?”
2. CENTERING: Intuitive focus. Once you have your question, draw your energy back into yourself with an affirmation such as “I am open to receive the right information for my career.” Or a phrase that feels right to you such as “I feel joyful and relaxed as I receive career guidance.” Or try visualizing and imagining what would your new career choice will look like.
3. RECEPTIVITY: Intuitive feeling. You release your physical tension by closing your eyes, taking 3 deep breaths and becoming aware of how you feel and what you are sensing. Let your senses flow as you concentrate on your breathing. Ask yourself, “how do I feel about other possibilities?”
4. IMAGERY: Intuitive seeing. Be aware of any symbols, feelings, images, pictures, words, or colors that float into your awareness. They will be fleeting, but remember them without judgment. What do you “see” or imagine? These are your clues for action.
5. INTERPRETATION: Intuitive guidance. Combine what you feel, sense, see and notice. Using the method of association, question what these symbols mean for you. Which interpretation “feels” good? Which one makes you smile?
6. INCUBATION: Intuitive possibilities. Put your information aside and wait for your awareness to “cook” or develop into more meaning. Trust that more clarity will come.
7. IMPLEMENTATION: Intuitive action. Use the final intuitive hunch, feeling, or vision in combination with your clues to create the solution.

Remember, we are born to create and to use the details of our lives to motivate and fulfill us. Our inner guidance, or intuition, is the creative device to show us the way. Using our intuition, we can grasp the paradox that nothing is fixed and ordained, nor is it random and accidental. Once we have done that we have made the shift into truly living our mission. We begin to see that our life’s role, as well as our career, is to engage with life and to participate in it.
As Dr. Salk explained so clearly, “The Intuitive mind will tell the thinking mind where to look next!” And the result we can expect is a life full of satisfaction, accomplishment and enjoyment.

It was 7:00 a.m. Dec 4, 1984.  I was on my way to my yuky job as usual. I was stuck, once again, in traffic. Frustrated , I realized I was stuck in life-period!! As I was wallowing in negative thought, filling up with self-pity , my victumhood martyr persona took over. Feeling lost, alone, and doubtful, I realized I was frozen with fear in all  areas and all relationships in my life. Isolation and emptiness kept me stuck in patterns of  indecision and desperation.  Feeling the irony of my “stuckness”, I tried to review my choices. Stay stuck behind the jerk in front of me.  Maneuver around the slow poke beside me risking a fender-bender. Cut in front of the “man with an attitude” beside me and speed away. Or ignore all the jerks on the highway, turn left and get the heck out of there, which would put me way out of my way and late…again!! Clearly, my life and my relationships were showing up for me again in unpleasant, difficult and unacceptable choices.  None of the choices appeared to be good or even fairly okay.

Then, as if the heavens open up and replied to me, I was struck from above and from behind all at once! Inspiration from above, in the realization that the traffic situation was a mimic of my life’s choices-the message was “MAKE BETTER CHOICES”! Collision from behind, as I was rear-ended by a very large pick-up truck. The message was “CHOOSE SOMETHING OR IT WILL BE CHOSEN FOR YOU ”!

Yes, life does give us karmic collisions. A constant barrage of choices, moment by moment decisions shape our lives and our relationships. My karmic patterns had taught me to stay stuck or be forced into making decisions. My “aha” car collision/inspiration moment jolted me into a new reality. Even though it was a reality of desperation at the time, it did, indeed, turn my old karmic patterns around into new  patterns which enhanced my life.  The aftermath of my combination cosmic inspiration/car collision gave me plenty of opportunities. Not only did I have car damage but I also had body damage. Dealing with the car repairs and insurance companies showed me how new choices created good relationships in order to be in my best interest. Definitely karmic clean-up for me and mechanics and insurance companies. At the same time, doctors and medical treatments gave me opportunities for new choices to create better relationships of understanding with the medical community.  More karma clearing.

My new healthy karmic patterns allowed me to I first learn how to create healthy relationships with strangers and difficulties instead of family and friends. Through the ensuing months, I was constantly being given new situations to make new choices which resulted in new results.

Finally, I got it! I can change my life by changing my choices which created happy relationships. My karmic bondage had finally been broken.

By being aware of my choices and my old negative karmic patterns, I was able to leave behind old karmic patterns of relationships which no longer fit me or my perspective.

By looking at the picture the Universe gave me, searching for my karmic lessons, be willing to create positive choices, I released the old me. I was able to learn how to shift my entire my life around towards one of joy and happiness .

Releasing our old karmic relationship attitudes makes way for new and beneficial, loving relationships.

We can find joy and compassion in our everyday experiences.  When we are aware of each and every “picture” we are given in our daily lives, we see the lesson. We open the pathway for new and better karmic relationships.
